I interned for a company called Bridge Money during my MBA at Stanford. I wanted to work at a fintech company, and this opportunity with Bridge Money was the exact type of role I wanted. AdvertisementI'd heard that Chicago was becoming more of a startup hub but not on the same level as Silicon Valley. Bridge Money offered me the possibility of an equity grant — if all went well at the company, my equity would increase in value. At Bridge Money, I was one of the first 10 full-time hires.

With anti-immigrant rhetoric on the rise and a contentious election ahead, some donors see the Girl Scouts as wading too readily into politically controversial waters. “It’s our job.”While Troop 6000 has found plenty of sympathetic supporters, “there are some donors who would prefer their dollars go elsewhere,” says Maskara. So, when the mayor’s office floated the idea of starting a troop at the Midtown shelter, the Girl Scouts were ready. The Girl Scouts have not been immune to the backlash, nor is it the first time they’ve shouldered criticism from conservative donors. While Troop 6000 has not been deterred, Maskara says that many of her peers in the nonprofit world have been fearful to publicly support newcomers.

Vince McMahon, executive chairman of the board of TKO Group Holdings and founder of wrestling giant WWE, has resigned his positions at both companies, according to a WWE memo obtained by CNBC and confirmed by the company. "Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his positions as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors. He will no longer have a role with TKO Group Holdings or WWE," said Nick Khan, president of the WWE. The announcement came in the wake of allegations made public Thursday, of sexual assault and sex trafficking, against McMahon. The latest allegations against McMahon were in a lawsuit filed by Janel Grant — who alleges McMahon directed her to have sex with a WWE "superstar" and other men.

In 2020, singer Eddy Grant sued Donald Trump for using "Electric Avenue" in a campaign tweet. Trump's lawyers asked him to "explain" the song, a newly-public deposition transcript shows. Grant asked. Grant noted that "Electric Avenue," a common street name worldwide, is also the name of a street in the south London district. Like "heaven" and "hell," he explained, Electric Avenue is more of a concept than a location on a map.

Moving to a remote island in Ireland could secure you a cash grant — but there are conditions. If you've ever dreamed of leaving everything behind and living on a remote island, now might be your chance. Ireland will give you a grant of up to 84,000 euros ($92,297) if you settle one of the country's coastal islands. Between 1996 and 2016, the population of the islands covered by the policy was found to have fallen by 12.8%. Improving infrastructure and increasing job opportunities, including the option for remote work, are also part of the 10-year plan, she added.

Roxanne Dougherty, 31, is waiting for a $5,000 refund on her student-loan payments. The Education Department directed Insider to guidance on refunds posted on Federal Student Aid's website. "No one is taking the time to help me or to listen to me when it comes to MOHELA," Dougherty said. "It just seems like there's something in it for them to not help," Dougherty said. Are you still waiting for a refund on your student-loan payments?
A federal appeals court granted the DOJ's request to resume a review of classified materials seized from Mar-a-Lago. The ruling overturned Judge Aileen Cannon's decision that paused the review until a special master review. The decision appeared to embrace the DOJ's claims that a further delay in the review would hurt national security. "It is self-evident that the public has a strong interest in ensuring that the storage of the classified records did not result in 'exceptionally grave damage to the national security,'" the 11th Circuit judges wrote. The 11th Circuit panel included two Trump appointees — Judges Andrew Brasher and Britt Grant — along with Judge Robin Rosenbaum, an Obama appointee.
A judge rejected MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's request for DOJ to return his seized cellphone. The judge cited an appeals court decision against Trump in his lawsuit over the Mar-a-Lago search. Trump appointed Judge Eric Tostrud, who denied Lindell's bid to get his phone back. Ruling against Lindell, Tostrud did not have to look far to find legal precedent backing up his conclusion that the phone should remain in the Justice Department's hands. Rarely does an appeals court decision so rapidly grow legs that it is cited in a separate case within 24 hours.
